I had the opportunity to collaborate with Immersive LTD once again for an IWC event where they introduced a new watch collection. During the event, we projected "moving wallpapers" at 360°, aiming for a subtle yet elegant atmosphere that adhered to the brand's guidelines.
I was responsible for designing and art directing the 360° content, as well as creating various still frames and the projection template.
Given the 1080x18200 pixel render resolution, I initially considered using the native or physical render engine in C4D. However, due to the need for fast visualization and quick draft turnarounds, I opted for Octane. This was a relatively risky decision due to limited GPU farm resources, so we chose to render everything in-house. A significant amount of testing was required to optimize the resolution, render time, and upscale-denoise ratios. The renders ran for two weeks, remotely managed, and were backed up to Google Drive and our local network.
During the course of the event MO performed 2 songs and I had to create something complementary that follows the music. This is a short edit that shows the changes between verse and chorus.
